BAL HARBOUR 37 BALHARBOURSHOPS.COM SILVIA KARMAN CUBIÑÁ EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND CHIEF CURATOR, THE BASS MUSEUM OF ART WHAT SOUNDS, COLORS, OR SMELLS DO YOU MOST STRONGLY ASSOCIATE WITH MIAMI? Guava pastelitos, Cuban coffee, pink Art Deco buildings, neon signs, and the sound of Spanish spoken everywhere! WHEN SOMEONE ASKS YOU FOR YOUR TOP MIAMI RECS, YOU SHARE: I always recommend Miami Beach's public art for a vibrant cultural experience. Visitors can enjoy Ugo Rondinone's iconic Miami Mountain sculpture; see the work of many internationally recognized artists such as Elmgreen and Dragset, Joep van Lieshout, or Roy Lichtenstein; and then stop by The Bass. YOUR RACE DAY LOOK: First things first—comfortable shoes! I have never come close to walking or standing as much as I do on race day. A TRIP YOU'VE PLANNED FOR THE SUMMER: This summer you can find me in LA, happily surrounded by art and artists. A BOOK YOU'D RECOMMEND: Trust by Hernan Diaz. YOUR MOST OFTEN-SHARED PODCAST: The BBC's In Our Time is a great one. Each episode covers a historical figure, topic, or idea related to the arts and culture space, and the host invites expert guests to discuss and debate. Vantage Point Radio is also worth a listen. MIAMI MOMENT YOU ARE MOST EXCITED FOR THIS SUMMER: The opening of "Kerry Phillips: Between the Mundane and the Miraculous" at The Bass in August. We can't wait for the community to experience how the artist uses found objects to make us examine our cultural relationship with things. BRENDA DÍAZ DE LA VEGA COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR, ISTITUTO MARANGONI MIAMI YOUR MIAMI SECRET SPOT IS: I love the Key Biscayne Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings. I go for the organic fruit, the best açai bowl in town, and fresh-made corn tortillas. WHAT'S A PERFECT DAY SPENT IN MIAMI? A stroll through the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, and a visit to the Rubell Museum. YOUR RACE DAY LOOK: A linen dress by Johanna Ortiz or Vita Kin, with flat sandals and a bucket hat. A TRIP YOU'VE PLANNED FOR THE SUMMER: For August, my family will rent a boat to cruise along the coast of Croatia, from Split to Dubrovnik; I'm very excited. I will also spend some time in the South of France. WHICH CULTURAL VENUES ARE YOU PLANNING TO EXPLORE THIS SUMMER? In France, I am planning to visit Eileen Gray's E-1027 villa in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, as well as the commune of Les Colombiers, where Luis Barragán was inspired to become an architect. I will also try to go to Fondation Carmignac in Hyères. It's been on my list for a long time, but I have never been able to visit. A BOOK YOU'D RECOMMEND: The Overstory by Richard Powers—absolutely brilliant. YOUR MOST OFTEN-SHARED PODCAST: Pivot with Scott Galloway and Kara Swisher. GABRIELLA SMITH FOUNDER, UPCYCLE PROJECT DURING F1, YOU PLAN TO… Enjoy the thrill of the race and get caught up in the excitement of the festivities surrounding it. It's a great chance to be part of the action and mingle with other fans of the sport; it's an unforgettable experience! YOUR RACE DAY LOOK: I suggest taking inspiration from the iconic Princess Diana. Miami's May weather can be unforgiving, so choose chic, neutral-toned sets in breathable linens paired with a hat, bold accessories, and a statement lip. And, of course, sensible shoes are a must for enjoying the entertainment around the entire F1 campus. YOUR MIAMI SECRET SPOT IS: There's a farm in the middle of our city! Imagine Farms in Little Haiti offers an unparalleled selection of locally grown produce that will blow your mind and is totally committed to sustainability. It uses 95 percent less water than traditional farms, ensures zero agricultural runoff, and never harms wildlife habitats—in fact, they practice carbon-negative farming! WHAT ARE YOU COVETING RIGHT NOW FROM BHS: If you want to add sustainable luxury to your wardrobe, Alexandre Birman's latest collection of shoes made from plant-based materials is a must-have. TINA STUCK INTERIOR DESIGNER AND INFLUENCER DURING F1, YOU PLAN TO… Attend, for sure. You can't miss something like this when it comes to your city. F1 has brought in an international crowd that loves not only cars and the need for speed, but fashion. The tracks become a runway. YOUR RACE DAY LOOK: I love the idea of a full white suit with a pop of color. I think Zimmermann would have some fun statement looks, and you can't go wrong pairing it with a clean white sneaker or a nice dress sandal. FAVORITE MIAMI RESTAURANTS: Miami has become a mecca for so many amazing restaurants, but my all-time favorite is Le Zoo. It gives you chic Parisian café vibes from the moment you step up to the hostess stand. Order the onion soup gratinee, Niçoise salad, or tagliolini that melts in your mouth. Because no meal is complete without dessert, the vanilla bean crème brûlée or profiteroles will never disappoint. YOUR MIAMI SECRET SPOT IS: Having a good tailor and shoe repair spot in Miami is so important. Santana Leather Repair does fine leather repair and restoration, whether it's your favorite pair of heels or a damaged designer handbag. Magic Tailoring is a small family-run alterations shop that does the best work. RACHAEL SAIGER FOUNDER, STYLE SAVES DURING THE SUMMER, YOU'RE MOST OFTEN FOUND: Out of the country. Last summer, we went skiing in Bariloche to switch things up and then headed over to the Amalfi Coast in September when all the tourists had left. For me, that is the best time to visit. A TRIP YOU'VE PLANNED FOR THE SUMMER: We will spend most of the summer in Saint-Tropez and end the season in Portugal or Sicily. A PLACE ON YOUR 2023/24 BUCKET LIST: South Korea, and Vietnam. YOUR CARRY-ON IS NEVER WITHOUT: A sheet mask and an external charger. A BOOK YOU'D RECOMMEND: Daisy Jones and the Six YOUR MOST OFTEN-SHARED PODCAST: Not Alone by Valeria Lipovetsky is a must-listen! S I LV I A K A R M A N C U B I Ñ Á P O R T R A I T BY Z AC H A RY B A L B E R ANDI POTAMKIN DIRECTOR, POTAMKIN COMPANIES DURING F1, YOU PLAN TO… Spend the afternoon with my Young Presidents' Organization crew. Tons of international members come into town for F1 so it's a fun influx of engaging people at our chapter events. YOUR RACE DAY LOOK: Something quirky by Jeremy Scott for Moschino that will include my little beer can bag. Scott recently announced his departure from the brand, and I'm quite sad about it. WHAT ARE YOU COVETING RIGHT NOW FROM BAL HARBOUR SHOPS? Some sunset-toned knits from Missoni. They are perfect for Miami evening cruises. We are boat people here.© WHAT'S A CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION YOU'RE INVOLVED WITH? I teach a gardening class at The SEED School of Miami, and it's the most valuable thing I do with my time. Five days per week it's a boarding school, so the students get a holistic education that would be impossible with the traditional school schedule. We have a full raised-bed garden that was designed by Little River Cooperative, and we grow plants hydroponically inside the classroom. A TRIP YOU'VE PLANNED FOR THE SUMMER: I will travel to Patagonia to stay with chef Francis Mallmann on his remote island and learn the art of open-fire cooking.
