The Washing ton, D.C. native began her career in publishing before launching her own mobile drawing app and eponymous design studio, and eventually co-founding Aqualille, a hand-painted wallpaper company, in 2018. "Every Aqualille design is concepted and created by our team on paper, a computer, or both, and then developed further with artisans in our studios around the world," Oringer says of the line, which fuses centuries-old techniques with contemporary methods and a forward-thinking point of view. Her personal style is equally enthusiastic. "I love classic pieces with a masculine-feminine twist," says the mother of two, who moved with her family from New York City to Miami in 2020. "I also look for new approaches. A designer who can reinvent the familiar in an unexpected way will win me over every time." —A.E. Miami's vibrancy, glamor, and lush environment sparked a collection of tropical designs with a decidedly updated edge. Think contemporary color schemes, gilded accents, and hand-applied textural embellishments. How would you describe your Miami fashion sense? I keep it cool and relaxed during the day, while night can be bolder. I love to wear variations on a warm-weather uniform: sandals, aviators, a good white T-shirt with tailored shorts, and a light jacket tossed over it. If it's really hot, I'll pair a gold Marie France van Damme swimsuit with shorts and an open white button-down. How does your personal style differ in New York City or Bridgehampton, where you split your time? Manhattan requires style to be functional as well as chic. You have to be able to stomp through streets and swish into a cocktail party all in one day. I cannot live without a killer leather jacket or Saint Laurent jeans. In Bridgehampton, it's vintage tees and airy linen minidresses. What pieces for fall are you currently coveting? Miniskirts by Prada and Valentino, a Chanel burgundy tweed handbag, and a Bottega Veneta tote. What is your look for an evening out at a gala or charity event? • A structured minidress from a brand like Miu Miu, or an archival gem of some sort and sculptural heels. I also love Dior's new short lace booties for night. What is your ideal work ensemble? Luckily, I have only ever worked in establishments that encourage freedom of expression and celebration of style—so really it is whatever makes sense when I wake up. It could be jeans, a T-shirt and a cool jacket, or a shift dress and thigh-high flat boots. What type of jewelry do you love? I love pieces that work from day to night. Boucheron is a favorite. What are some of your favorite kid-friendly activities at the Bal Harbour Shops? The kids love Books & Books, followed by turtle viewing in the pond. How about entertaining items or décor for the home? Diptyque's Citronnelle candle is essential for Miami and comes in a whimsical painted ceramic pot. What are your fall travel plans? We are going to Paris and staying at The Ritz.
