L A BOHÈME
"I finally got my first real acting job on Broadway doing Hair in 1968.
I guess I loved fashion so much that I refused to take my clothes off. My
Hair costume was very '60s but also making its way into '70s fashion. I was
finally beginning to wear pants, and there was a sort of looseness to
the clothing. And it wasn't just my clothes that were changing. My hair and
makeup were changing as well. No more teasing, spraying, and repeating.
No more eyeliner smoking around the eyes. No more pale lipstick. The
late '60s were much more fresh-faced with long, natural hair. My look was
becoming much more relaxed—just in time for the '70s (no bras)."

Keaton's late-60s
bohemian spirit.

marked the start of her
shift towards a more
fresh-faced and relaxed
approach to dressing.
