"I envisioned an epic drive through the mountains, hitting up all the coolest spots in town." With the Fall/Winter 2024 collections in mind, Frederick was inspired by designers' fresh takes on classic staples like plaid, shearling, sweater dresses, and tall boots: "Each has a sexy twist, whether through fit or a hint of skin." Based in New York City, he started his career working with Joe Zee at Elle and launched DuJour. Kat Herriman is a writer based in New York and director of client development at Nina Johnson gallery in Miami. She loves art and the way it runs into fashion. This issue, she took a deep dive into the world of Burberry to explore the origins of its iconic trench coat. "My favorite thing to do is read, which is exactly how I began to get my mind around the influence of Burberry's trench coat on design, cinema, and beyond." P S Sean Knight styled this issue's cover story featuring model Ali Michael in standout looks from the Fall/Winter 2024 collections. Originally from the South Side of Chicago, his work—whose work can be found in Vogue, W Magazine, GQ, Interview, Vanity Fair, Harper's Bazaar, and The Sunday Times Style magazine—often juxtaposes the glamour of Old Hollywood with the understated cool of '90s grunge. He lives in West Hollywood with his dog Brando. "It may sound crazy, but as a stylist in California, you can get tired of movie stars, blue skies, and palm trees. Working on this project with Thomas [Whiteside] and Ali was such a refreshing change of pace for me!" A Tampa native based in New York City, Stephanie Sporn is an award-winning journalist covering art, design, and style. She writes for Vogue, W Magazine, and Architectural Digest, among other publications, and also pens an online column about the intersection of art and fashion for Art Basel. For her first contribution to Bal Harbour, Sporn explores the enduring influence of Elsa Schiaparelli. "Couture's legendary Surrealist paved the way for the designer-artist collaboration as we know it. Her genre-defying career has served as a major inspiration for my own, and every season I look forward to seeing how Daniel Roseberry keeps her singular spirit alive on the runway."
