Prosper Assouline, who co-founded the imprint with his wife Martine, describes the second-story space as "a cabinet de curiosités" that's a nod to an elegant home. Customers are welcomed in through a door flanked by a gleaming brass frame. Decadence pervades the boutique, with elements such as rich walnut finishes, lit dark wood shelves, custom-crafted light fixtures, and black-and-white marble floors inspired by the Palace of Versailles. The boutique features an area dedicated to Assouline's new collection of home fragrances. The range of candles capture scents that complement the Travel From Home series, and mark the brand's recent crossover into luxury lifestyle. For many, little introduction is needed when it comes to Assouline, the independent French publishing house whose devotees eagerly await each new title release—not to mention some highly collectible objets d'art. Assouline's visually engaging coffee table tomes—truly showpieces to collect and display—have a sparkling new home at Bal Harbour Shops that's as opulent and design-centric as the books themselves. Here, we take a tour to uncover some of its hidden gems. BY SHIVANI VORA PAPER PUSHERS BALHAR B O U RSH O P S .CO M
