As the former editor in chief of Harper's Bazaar, she garnered international acclaim for her editorial approach to fashion combined with in-depth reportage. This issue kicks off her exclusive column for Bal Harbour, "The Desirables." "I appreciate fashion that makes a statement while maintaining elegance and simplicity. For a piece to be a true collector's item, it must resonate personally with an individual and reflect their unique style while standing the test of time." British born, New York–based Mark Ellwood has lived out of a suitcase for most of his life. He is editor-at- large for Robb Report and contributes regularly to the Financial Times Weekend and the New York Times, among others. He reported several stories this issue, including a feature on Malta's cultural boom. "Malta's a tiny speck in the Med, with an outsized footprint in history—everyone's battled over control over it for centuries. But I had no idea what an energetic and distinctive place it was before reporting this story. I can't wait to get back there this fall, for the opening of their new art museum, MICAS." Thomas Whiteside photographed this issue's cover story with model Ali Michael. "Ali has always excited me as a model, and she's a real chameleon for photographers. Each look became like a different character for Ali—we even gave them names. I love getting to work on these projects with such collaborative teams." Whiteside is best known for his celebrity portraits of such icons as Naomi Campbell, Aretha Franklin, and Taylor Swift. His editorial stories have been featured in many publications, among them Vogue, W Magazine, and Harper's Bazaar. April Long is a beauty, wellness, and fragrance expert whose work has appeared in Elle, Vogue, Allure, Marie Claire, and more. For this issue, Long curated a beauty page featuring new releases for the fall, as well as some tried-and-true staples. "While I'm always on the hunt for what's new and next, I still love my hero products." She is currently the beauty director of Town & Country. A T G BALHAR B O U RSH O P S .CO M
