P H OTO BY H A R R Y B E N S O N , C O U R T E S Y O F P H A I D O N . iamond jubilees mark milestones of success. At Bal Harbour Shops, that success translates to six decades of founder Stanley Whitman's dream for a "theater of shopping" that traversed architecture, nature, and commerce. With this issue, we kick off a year of celebrations honoring the original It place to see and be seen. The original Miami mecca for fashion. The original exclusive club cultivating design, culture, and shopping at the highest level. Nothing better sums up the lasting connection between Bal Harbour Shops and its devoted clientele than our new campaign, An Affair to Remember, concieved by Director of Brand Media and Content Shana Kaufman. In "Afternoon Delights," we take a look at its making and its original story of romance and nostalgia. In addition to working with wildly creative and stylish people, I have the advantage of meeting and interviewing fashion industry greats, like James Shay, longtime president of Italian menswear brand Isaia. Shay gave me the honor of being the first journalist to view the brand's stunning new women's collection in a private showing. See the sneak peek beginning on page 97. I also had the pleasure of speaking with Colombian designer Johanna Ortiz, who revealed her secret to a perfect-fitting wardrobe and why her pop-up will remain at the Shops through January 2026. Another highly notable invitation was my opportunity to moderate a discussion with the legendary jewelers Sybil and David Yurman. In November 2024, Phaidon launched a moving and insightful coffee-table book, "Sybil and David Yurman: Artists and Jewelers," about the innovative couple who introduced "relaxed American luxury" to the jewelry industry. Learning about their journey and getting to know them personally has brought a new sense of meaning and wonder every time I walk into their jewel-box boutique at the Shops. In our Fall 2024 issue we featured Asheville, North Carolina, shortly before Hurricane Helene wreaked its havoc. For this issue, we sent writer Colleen Curtis to check on the area's resilient comeback. As she reports in "3-2-1" (page 120), visiting now is not just a trip, it's a chance to help a community rebuild and thrive. Here's to traveling with intention! D This issue's two covers spotlight the beguiling and uplifting charm of the season's seductive trends featured in our fashion portfolios.
