T B R O O K E M A Z U R E K ( M A Z U R E K ) , A L B E R TO P E L AYO (C A S TA N TO M A S ) , M I T U L S H A H (C H H E DA ) B Brooke Mazurek is a journalist and screenwriter who grew up on the outskirts of a town named Boring in rural Maryland. As a journalist, her work has appeared in the New York Times, Harper's Bazaar, and Billboard, and often connects the threads of art, ecology, culture, and style. For this issue, Mazurek got the scoop on a new Miami endeavor that rents works of fine art. "Art stirs the soul. It's meant to see the light of day rather than the darkness of a storage facility!" Her first feature-length film, a magical-realist thriller titled The Offer, is currently in pre-production with Killer Films. LA-based Tanvi Chheda is a freelance writer covering lifestyle and travel, arts, culture, and food. It was the latter that brought her to Charleston, where she tracked down the city's rising culinary stars—and sampled their most in-demand dishes. Her work has appeared in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, AFAR, and Virtuoso Life, among others. "Charleston has evolved tremendously in recent years, and nowhere can you see that more than on the plate. These chefs bring such diversity and creativity to the food scene, but universal among them is the credit they give to the local farmers and purveyors they source from." First-time contributor Anna Castan Tomas is a Paris-based fashion director and stylist who was on staff at Harper's Bazaar Arabia for more than five years, and played a key role in the launches of Grazia International and Icon MENA magazines. She's worked with top photographers, celebrities, and luxury brands, including Fendi, Chopard, Roberto Cavalli, Cartier, Aquazzura, and Hermès. "Fashion is storytelling; the florals in this shoot ['Back in Bloom'] symbolized movement, growth, and a touch of romantic rebellion—especially Stella [McCartney's] piece, which felt like wearable spring."
