Micah McDonald: Awards season is keeping us busy. We want it to be great; it's the main stage, you know! Our goal is always to have our vision for each client together by Thanksgiving. We do mood boards and look books; I even use an Etch-A-Sketch and do these creative drawings that make Wayman a bit crazy. Items you always carry in your kit? McDonald: Double-sided tape—don't leave home without it! Shout wipes for stains, pins, medium thread, and menthol oil to soothe aching swollen feet in high heels. Key pieces every woman should own? McDonald: We always advise to start with great accessories—a bag, a shoe, even a coat—and build your wardrobe around them. Because strong accessories are the staple items that can really elevate a look. Wayman Bannerman: A great statement bag is always a smart purchase; it's an investment piece. McDonald: And sunglasses. We love what Loewe does in that department, as well as Gucci. We tend to do oversized frames. What's inspiring you in terms of spring fashion? Bannerman: We saw boho-style blouses from multiple designers that are really cool, many paired with interesting denim. A lot of brands are dressing down the bottom, dressing up the top, and finishing the look off with a very cool shoe, whether a stiletto, a flat, or a low-cut boot. Also, knit and jersey dresses that gather and knot at the waist or on the hip seem to be an easy, wearable trend that you can layer with printed shoes, accessories, or coats. Victoria Beckham, Loewe, Bottega Veneta, Tory Burch, and Christopher Esber all did it. How about men's trends? Bannerman: It's been so awesome to watch how men's fashion has expanded over the years. One thing I really enjoyed seeing is the variation of fabrics being used for spring, like Dsquared2's blue silk short-sleeve button down or Walter Van Beirendonck's pink sheer, cropped blazer. Men, don't be afraid of the silks and the linens! There are some really cool silhouettes in that nature. Do you have a go-to uniform? Bannerman: Micah and I love cargo pants. Also, we love black. Personally, we wear a lot of Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga. Gucci has a really cool dad sneaker (the Rhyton) that we both own multiple pairs of. Sometimes we're not sure who is wearing whose shoes, because we are the same size! McDonald: And we love a slide. Generally, if I can avoid laces and buttons, I will.
