A blizzard hit a day before photographer Brad
Ogbonna was scheduled to scout locations for
our fashion travel portfolio, "Charleston Charm."
"Snow was still fresh on the ground and the city
was shut down," says Ogbonna, "so it took a
leap of faith and a lot of imagining of what all the
locations would look like not covered in snow.
Thankfully, the sun arrived days later and
we were blessed with perfect weather!" A fan of
Charleston, Ogbonna wanted to make sure he
captured its unique aspects: "All the things
that make it one of a kind: the architecture, the
lowcountry vibes, its color and playfulness."

IN BROOKLYN , NEW YORK
A signature move of photographer Tyler Roste,
who shot "Back in Bloom" for this issue,
is mixing in beautiful still-life images with
his stunningly lit portraits. So when the Miu Miu
Mary Janes arrived on set in a size too small for
model Katrina Liksnite, Roste made a point to
shoot them on their own with some sprigs from
the dozens of bouquets bought as props.
Flower buds were even strategically placed
on Stella McCartney's texturized shawl featured
in the story's opener. As for the lighting,
photo assistants stood outside the studio
reflecting sunlight through the garage to angle
rays exactly where Roste wanted them to hit.
