The homegrown Groupe Barrière just opened an apparthotel right next to Le Meurice; the 26-room Maison Barrière Vendôme is in the erstwhile Lacoste HQ, and is intended more as a home-away-from-home than a hotel: half the rooms have kitchens, and the seventh-floor suite is more than 1,000 square feet. Iconic House, another local group that operates what it calls a maison hotelière, just opened its first entry in Paris, Villa Junot, a five-bedroom converted private home in the heart of Montmartre. Then again, you could rent out the ultraluxe La Fiermontina Vendôme: it's the private home of the wealthy descendants of artists' muse Antonia Fiermonte; this property offers a few select guests the chance to experience the je ne sais quoi of living right on the namesake square. — M .
