flashback C O U R T E S Y O F T H E W H I T M A N FA M I LY A R C H I V E Built in 1936, The Whitman Hotel—also known as "The Whitman By The Sea"—carried on the dancing tradition that its owners, William and Leona Whitman (parents of Bal Harbour Shops founder Stanley Whitman), had begun at their own beach house.
