Shannon Adducci is a New York–based editor, whose family background in auctions and antiques brought her to the jewelry and watch worlds. For this issue, Adducci, our new jewelry editor, styled the high jewelry still life, "Let it Shine," and produced "The Life Aquatic" trend pages. "Recently there has been a real focus on all things oceanic, from Tiffany & Co.'s latest Blue Book collection to Van Cleef & Arpels' Treasure Island," says Adducci. "The results are incredibly intricate pieces depicting whimsical fish and seashells, plus a renewed interest in important blue sapphires." Adducci's work has appeared in Departures, WWD, and T: The New York Times Style Magazine. in this issue Andrés Oyuela is a self-dubbed "sometimes delusional but always passionate Latin American photographer" whose fashion images have been featured in Bal Harbour and who debuts a cover this issue. Based in New York City since 2015, the Colombian-born Oyuela spent the first 16 years of his career as a fashion and celebrity photographer, contributing to Rolling Stone, Vogue Mexico, and the Wall Street Journal, among others. "I always wondered when I would get the opportunity to photograph one of the Supermodels of the era when modeling was exclusively devoted to glamour, beauty, and the power of confidence," he says of Bal Harbour's "Unstoppable" fashion feature, starring Karolina Kurkova. "I am proud of and inspired by the work we did; every photo is a moment of beauty." Riad Azar is a Syrian-born, New York–based hairstylist and groomer whose work has graced the pages of Vogue (Arabia, Mexico, L'Uomo, Ukraine), V Magazine, British GQ, and Marie Claire UK, as captured by such photographers as Gilles Bensimon, David LaChapelle, and Danielle Levitt. In his first collaboration with Bal Harbour, he created several playfully stylish looks for our cover story with Supermodel Karolina Kurkova—an exciting challenge, according to Azar: "For this shoot, I wanted to play with different looks, while keeping each style high-glam and fashion-forward. The Vanity Fair cover of Madonna in the early 1990s, shot by Steven Meisel, is an inspiration I cherish; that iconic, platinum-blonde wig. But I also wanted to use Karolina's own hair for looks inspired by the glamorous 1960s, keeping it timeless. Another version featuring her with short hair adds an unexpected layer to the story."
