Bal Harbour

Heidi Mitchell is a writer based in London and rural Connecticut whose work regularly appears in the Wall Street Journal, New York Post, and Fast Company. She was most recently Editor in Chief of Town & Country Travel. Mitchell covers a range of topics, including architecture and design, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, travel, and wellness. When she introduced herself to Dr. Connie Lehman as "just a freelance writer" while reporting this issue's piece on AI and advancements in breast cancer assessments, the revered doctor stopped her mid-sentence. "She told me that I'm not just anything, that women are always underselling themselves, and to not fall into that trap," Mitchell recalls. "I mean, I was smitten with this doctor even before she explained how many potential lives her technology breakthrough can save. Dr. Lehman is an inspiration to us all." Simone Girner is a German-born writer and editor, currently based in Brooklyn. She has contributed to such publications as Departures and Vogue, and was one of the founding editors of the travel company Indagare, where she worked as content and creative director for more than 10 years. Some of her favorite reporting trips include Sri Lanka, Japan, Cambodia, New Zealand, and Sicily, always with a stack of books in tow. "I have unsuccessfully tried to become an e-reader many times," says Girner, who rounds up her favorite indie bookstores in this issue's "Novel Destinations." "But I just love the physical object too much, as my crammed bookshelves can attest. Finding a great bookshop is a must anywhere I travel." Raúl Guerrero is a Mexican-American fashion editor and creative director based between New York and Los Angeles. He has contributed to publications including Vogue, GQ, Harper's Bazaar, and TIME. His work has helped shape the visual identity of brands including Net-a-Porter, Mr. Porter, Ssense, Bloomingdale's, and Hugo Boss. Guerrero's visual style explores the balance between the contemporary and the familiar.
